Does this formula have any particular side effects?

This formula has no side effects. It is suitable for pregnant and breast-feeding women. Not recommended for people allergic to sulfites. Due to the presence of beta-carotene, it is not recommended for smokers. Please note that this product is not a substitute for sun protection, and should be used in conjunction with your favorite sun cream.

Why keratin in a skin formula?

Keratin isn't just a protein found in hair! After exposure to UV rays, skin cells synthesize more keratin and melanin to defend themselves. These two proteins absorb UV rays and act as a protective shield against the rays in the epidermis. By accumulating more melanin, the skin's pigment, the skin appears more tanned! We use a keratin hydrolysate that is naturally pigmented by the melanin it contains, so it naturally integrates with newly synthesized melanin.

Is there a risk of becoming orange?

Does Duo Pro-Solaire replace sun protection?

Even though this formula contains ultra-protective active ingredients against UV rays, such as pomegranate extract and tomato lycopene, we still recommend you use sun protection whenever you go out in the sun, to avoid sunburn and pigmentation spots. Your skin will be protected and your tan accentuated thanks to active ingredients that stimulate the internal production of melanin.

Why is the Active Sunshine Complex not recommended for smokers?

French researchers decided to verify the virtues of beta-carotene on smokers, this study showed that the important and simultaneous consumption of beta-carotene and cigarette could increase their cancer risk. Beta-carotene would be sensitive to oxidation caused by the degradation products of cigarette smoke. As the body of smokers no longer has the capacity to recycle the by-products of oxidized carotene, the latter become pro-oxidants and may aggravate the development of cancer.

Of course, there's no question of banning smokers from consuming foods containing beta-carotene: it's mainly fruit and vegetables, which contain thousands of other compounds beneficial to health. Perhaps the best advice for cigarette smokers (or ex-smokers) is to avoid dietary supplements containing high doses of beta-carotene (>20 mg/day), particularly sun supplements.
